The counties in Scotland are allocated as 'council area' and Aberdeenshire is one the largest council areas in the country. Despite its name, Aberdeen is not actually located in Aberdeenshire, as the city functions independently as its own council area. The county is recognised as one of the most beautiful in Scotland and it is located on the coast of the North Sea .
